Hadley Does Portland

Hadley has been progressing quite well in every aspect with the exception of sleep. About a week after turning 6 months, she started crawling. This was a lot of fun because now she will follow you around and it's fun to see her go after things she wants. What it also means, is she's mobile in her crib at night.

She's now progressing to walking. She is a pretty determined little girl.

About a week after starting to crawl, she's started pulling herself up. We have these buckets in front of the TV and she loves to crawl over and pull herself up to a standing position. She will also crawl over to the couch and pull herself up there, too. Mostly because she knows her binky is up there somewhere, it has nothing to do with us. 

We've also padded up the fireplace, and she must really like the feel of it because she spends a lot of time over there. 

What this also means, is she pulls herself up in her crib and will start crying until we go in and attend to her.

She's eating more and more solids, and understands when put in the high chair that it's time to eat.

This last weekend Emily and Hadley flew down to Portland to spend a few days with Emily's aunt and uncle. I drove down Friday after work to join them, then we drove back on Sunday.

Emily was very nervous to fly with a baby for the first time.  There were a couple moments of stress (mostly the boarding process), but luckily Hadley slept on the hour long flight. 

Emily's aunt and uncle have lots of animals, so Hadley was able to roll around with some dogs, cats, and birds.  She seemed to really like them, but she also appeared to be affected by the hair and dander. Her eyes looked exhausted, she was more fussy than usual, and she was coughing more.  Hopefully she isn't allergic to animals.  

I'm not sure if it was the unfamiliar environment or something else, but Hadley was pretty clingy while in Portland.  Emily got a lot of cuddles, maybe too many. 

This is her modified crawl. She will drop down on her knees, but she tries to go as far as she can on her hands and feet. 

She was also able to get in some good cuddles with Uncle Frank and Aunt J.
