Ocean Shores

For the past six months Emily has been interning as a QA for a company making an app to control window shades. That internship was up at the end of February. Cambri turns one at the beginning of April, which also means my chance to take some paid parental leave is running out. So, to celebrate the end of Emily's internship and the beginning of my five weeks of leave, we decided to head over to Ocean Shores for a few days. 

It was a pretty easy drive, and we were able to secure a condo that had multiple rooms and plenty of space to relax. The complex also had an indoor pool, which the girls enjoyed during our allotted time slot (thanks, Covid).

Tuesday morning we headed out to the beach to see what that was all about, and didn't realize they let you just drive out on it, so that was pretty cool.  Cambri fell asleep on the drive, so Hadley and Emily walked around while I stayed back until Cambri woke up. Hadley covered a lot of ground trying to run down the seagulls.

They didn't mean to get wet, but the wave came in quick and got Hadley up to her knee. 

Once Cambri woke up she was ready to do some running around of her own.

Wednesday morning we stopped by a kite store, but it was closed (as was the case with most shops right now). The only other place we could find that was open and sold kites was the local grocery store. The $5 kite held up pretty decent, actually. Hadley seemed to enjoy it. 

We also spent some time just hanging out in the condo. Hadley got in more than enough Paw Patrol, while Cambri kind of just bothered Hadley with her attention.

After lunch it was back out to the beach. Hadley flew the kite for a while and had a blast. 

Cambri played with the plastic shovel for a little, but she was mostly interested in eating the sand.

It was all we could do to stop her.

Hadley handed off the kite so she could go run at more seagulls. Yes, burn that energy.

The girls also cooperated long enough to be able to make sure and take a family picture.

All that running, and finally Hadley hit a wall. There was no keeping her awake this time.

Back at the condo the girls enjoyed themselves some more Paw Patrol.

Lately, Hadley has really been into the whole baby shark song and whatnot, and maybe just sharks in general. We drove by this variety store every time we went out and each time Hadley would point it out and yell, "shark!"

So, on our way out of town Thursday morning, we stopped so she could get her picture with it.

It was a great little getaway for all of us. The girls had a blast, and that made it a good trip.
