It's crazy that fours years have already gone by since Hadley joined our family. She was really looking forward to her day, and kept telling us exactly what she wanted almost daily for months leading up to it.
Emily's mom showed up the day before so she could be there to celebrate Hadley's birthday and to be able to help out after the baby is born.
The morning got kicked off with some cake baking. Licking the bowl is always their favorite part.
I worked a half day so I could take Hadley to her gymnastics class. We then followed that up with some donuts. She, of course, went with her usual pink glaze with sprinkles.
Emily assisted the girls while they made some Tie-dye shirts.
All Hadley wanted was pink. It's pink everything with this girl.
Cambri opted to be a little more adventurous and drenched hers with pink, green, and purple.
For her birthday dinner, Hadley had told us she wanted pizza. Then a few weeks ago she said she wanted "stretchy noodles" instead. Not knowing what she meant by "stretchy noodles" we had her describe them to us. We then had to show her some pictures of homemade noodles we made for both Emily and Cambri's birthdays to confirm what she meant.
So, I guess homemade fettuccine alfredo has become the official birthday dinner of the past year.
Gma Rae and Gpa Dale showed up just in time for dinner after getting stuck in traffic for a couple hours because of a bad accident that happened just ahead of them.
For months, Hadley has been telling Emily she wanted a pink triangle cake. Where she got the idea for a triangle cake is beyond us, but thank goodness Emily was resourceful enough to make it. Emily has also wanted to try making a mirror glaze for a cake after seeing videos of them on Instagram. So Hadley's pink triangle cake had a pretty cool shine to it.
Between all her presents from us, Meemaw, and Gma and Gpa, she didn't have a shortage this year. And she had all the help she needed from Cambri.
After she unwrapped each present, she would throw the gift in a pile and move on to the next. As you can tell, she scored some Bluey action figures, a water baby, Minnie Mouse sunglasses, mechanical crayons, and a pink flower watch.
She also got some pink chalk markers that really pop when writing on the black dry erase boards.
Man, we are so happy to have this little girl in our lives. The last four years with her have gone by pretty fast. She is fun-spirited, sociable, and loves getting to run wild. One of the greatest feelings we get to enjoy is when she comes up at random to tell us she loves us. Another year with her has been a blessing, and we're sure the many more years with her will be the same.
