Good-bye Summer, Hello School

With summer winding down, the girls have tried to soak up every last bit of it before school starts. So, that means playing outside as much as they can before the weather turns gray and wet. 

We also finally got around to taking Hadley and Harlow's yearly photos for our wall.

Hadley did great and we were able to have a lot to choose from.

Harlow couldn't be bothered to even crack a smile, which is weird because she is one of our most happiest and smiley kids. However, for some reason, during this little photoshoot of ours, she just wasn't having it.

With football season beginning, it's a great excuse to take a family picture with everyone all decked out in our BYU gameday shirts.

Go Cougs!

Now that he has figured out how to crawl, Crewe is becoming more and more mobile. He loves climbing on everyone and everything.

Recently, Hadley has been wanting a hamburger when we get them happy meals from McDonald's. So, for Labor Day I asked her if she wanted hamburgers for dinner. I asked her if she wanted cheese and bacon on her burger. She said she didn't want a burger, she wanted a hamburger, because it has ham, and she likes ham. I didn't want to explain to her that a hamburger isn't ham because I thought the innocence of it was rather adorable, and I thought maybe she would eat it if she continued to think it had ham.

It didn't work, she pulled off the hamburger patty and basically just had a BLT with cheese. But now she knows a hamburger isn't ham, so I'm worried she won't try one again. 

With Labor Day in the review mirror, Hadley got to start 1st grade.

The day before school started, we went and met her teacher, while Emily took Cambri to meet hers.

There are only two kids from her Kindergarten class that are in her 1st grade class, so we were nervous for her being around so many new kids. At least her Kindergarten class had a few kids from TK.

After a week, she has told us she has some new friends.

While Emily took Hadley to her first day of school, I got to take Cambri to a dentist appointment where they put in a silver cap on one of her teeth because it had a pretty bad cavity. She was a champ, and the dentist kept remarking about how well she was doing.

Magnetic tiles went on sale, so we bought some more. The girls convinced Emily to build the tallest tower ever with them.

The girls thought it was pretty cool.

But they were more excited about knocking it over.

Crewe boy is pretty chill, and it doesn't take much to get a smile out of him. He's always happy to be along for the ride.

Cambri got into TK this year, and she started a week after Hadley. Since TK is in Gold Bar for her, this creates a little dilemma for us because Sultan and Gold Bar have the same bell schedule. And since Emily can't be in two places at once, this means Hadley gets to ride the bus. Which, she was happy to find out that one of her recess friends from last year also rides the same bus. So, she got to sit next to her on their way to school.

Emily said Cambri didn't even really say good-bye, but got right in line with her classmates. She had a great first day of school, and was excited to tell us that she made a new friend. We've been so anxious about her starting TK because we still have some potty-training to iron out, but the first day was a huge success.

We're going to have to lower the crib a little bit because we find Crewe like this in the morning. Dude just wants to stand so bad.
