Pre-Christmas

The kids have been ready for Christmas for weeks now, and they fight each morning to turn the blocks on our Christmas countdown Nativity. Speaking of Nativities, we headed down to Deseret Book to snag one for this year. They all decided on one that is in the shape of a shooting star. It even lights up, too.

Emily tries to come up with a new homemade ornament to make with the girls each year, and this year she decided on on that is made out of school glue, which the girls got to bedazzle with jewels.

The idea was that when they dry, the will become clear with the jewels in the middle. They did not dry out how Emily was expecting. They ended up having little rims around the edges, so she used a hot glue gun to fill them in. After doing that, they turned out pretty good. 

Cambri asked me when we were going to decorate a gingerbread house. So, the next time I was at Costco, I snagged one of the pre-built ones. 

Hadley was more interesting in eating the gingerbread, while Cambri and Harlow got to work.

Then Harlow spent the rest of the time sucking down that tube of frosting.

Each year we make a bunch of cookies to hand out to people. This year I made some sugar cookies, gingersnaps, white chocolate macadamia with sprinkles, and snickerdoodle with cream cheese chips melted on top.

Gma and Gpa came over to swap presents, and Gma helped get the sugar cookies frosted. The girls pitched in, too.

Crewe took a while to warm up to Gma, but he took to Gpa pretty quick. He found out that if he needed a nap, he could trust Gpa to help him out.

The girls enjoyed having visitors, and make sure Gma and Gpa played games with them.

With Christmas fast approaching, the girls were more than ready for Santa.
