Legend of Cambri

It's become interesting to figure out how to juggle Cambri's birthday each year, mostly because it occurs during spring break or, in the case of this year, the weekend of Genereal Conference.

Not wanting to host a party on General Conference weekend, we opted to host a party the weekend before. Being the fun mom that she is, Emily went all out again for this one. Cambri wanted a Zelda party, and so Emily setup different stations for the kids to perform different tasks that would take them through the latest Zelda video game, Echoes of Wisdom.

It must've been a busy weekend for everyone, because a few kids had to cancel due to conflicts, and we're still not sure how out of 11 invites that were passed out at school, not a single one RSVP'd. Anyway, not having a huge turnout didn't stop Cambri and her guests from having a blast in Hyrule.

Meemaw blew up a bajillion balloons that represented bubbles that the kids got to pop in order to find a piece of the tri-force needed to free Link from the jewel thing.

They all made it through and rescued Link, who was stuck inside the piñata, which we didn't get a picture of. The Link was 3D printed by Ryker, and we said whoever gets it when the piñata breaks gets to keep it. Knowing that Cambri wanted it, Hadley told me beforehand that she was going to get the Link from the piñata and give it to Cambri. Sure enough, she jumped right in there and grabbed Link before going for the candy. It was very nice and thoughtful of her.

Emily made the Zelda caked and topped it with a 3D printed Zelda, again from Ryker. The purple part is the rift, or portal. Emily, once again, knocked it out of the park.

Since we're not supposed to have candles in church buildings, we just sang to her.

It was a success.

Meemaw helped a lot with the decorations and Gma and Gpa showed up to help with the setup and takedown. We couldn't have done it with everyone's help. 

One Cambri's actual birthday, she just wanted some donuts. The bakery in town is limited, and we weren't able to go all the way into Monroe, so after going to Osprey Park for their t-ball pictures, we stopped by the Sultan Bakery and settled for some Danishes, and they did end up having a chocolate bar filled with pudding and topped with whipped cream. The girls thought that was pretty cool, so luckily that all worked out.

She had some help opening up all her presents.

She scored a jewelry box from Gma and Gpa, a scooter from Meemaw, and some pajamas from us.

We also got her a cowboy-ish hat, but she immediately didn't want it. I thought she'd like it because she like watching me play Red Dead Redemption 2. Harlow grabbed it and said it was hers now.

The Jasmine pajamas weren't a gown like the other ones, but has the parachute pants like she wears in the movie.

She did eventually warm up to the hat. Looking pretty stylish.

Since they had a game in the afternoon, we convinced her to let us have her birthday dinner on Sunday instead. So, after their t-ball game we swung by a Thai truck for Emily, and then McDonald's for me and the kids.

Then, for dinner on Sunday, I made some homemade noodles for the lasagna Cambri requested.

I love this girl so much. Her personality covers a wide spectrum, and sometimes it's hard to keep up. She's caring and nice, and when she sees someone hurt or in need, she wants to help them (although, she might also be the reason they're hurt). Happy birthday, Cambridge!
