What do I always tell the kids? That's right, no running through the kitchen. What do they do? They run through the kitchen.
As we were about to get the kids ready for bed, Crewe took off towards the kitchen. Then Crewe started crying, and Cambri yelled out that he was bleeding and that there was blood everywhere.
Crewe runs over and we see he has a nice gash right underneath his right cheek. It was obvious right away that this was the type of cut that would need stitches. From what we could tell, when he was running through the kitchen, he fell and caught his face on the corner of that drawer that's under the oven.
I picked him up and we headed into Monroe. Crewe had calmed down on the drive, and was actually asleep when we got to the ER.
They got us into a room pretty quick, and assessed his cut. For a kid like this, they needed multiple people to help, mostly to hold him still. They gave him a puff of a sedative to help keep him calm, but I'm not sure it helped much.
Then we waited for a while until all the people needed became available. In the meantime, he fell back to sleep.
A little before 9PM, they came in and got started. They told me kids usually do better if they can watch a show or something on a phone, so I held my phone up with Bluey on it. One nurse held his arms and legs down, and another held his head still. He obviously cried the whole time, but for the most part remained still.
Overall, he did really well, and got pretty sweaty from the whole ordeal.
He ended up needing seven stitches. We kept a bandage over it for a few days so he wouldn't mess with the stitches.
It wasn't long before he returned to his usual antics. He'll have a nice little scar, but should heal up pretty well.
