Bristol's First Birthday

Our little Bristol is now a one-year-old. It's still wild how fast they go from a newborn to running around and getting into everything.

She eats just about everything pretty well, so when we were trying to decide what we thought she'd want for her birthday dinner, we knew we needed to include fries. So, we smoked some burgers and hot dogs. I got a chuck/brisket blend from Fred Meyer, and they turned out pretty good.

Meemaw drove up to celebrate and spend the week with us. Gma and Gpa England also drove over for the day.

As is tradition, we made a wacky cake with glossy frosting. I cut out a nice big piece for Bristol and we all got to sing to her.

All the other kids helped her blow out the candle.

Then she dug in.

But not really. She seemed to like it, but really only poked at it and scooped some frosting.

She wanted to make sure Emily got some.

Not nearly the mess from this one that we saw from the others.

Then it came to presents, and the girls jumped at the chance to assist.

There was only a little fighting over who gets to open what, and a minor meltdown.

It was kind of hard to figure out what to get her, since most of what we could think of, we already had. Or in the case of the spinner things, get them, only to realize later that we already had some.

It was a good, simple, and enjoyable little party for this girl. It's been really fun to see her personality grow and start to come out, and watch her interact with others. She's been the blessing we knew she would be.
