3 AUGUST - 4 WEEKS
After working Saturday, I came home to an anxious Emily. It was the day we decided to do a pregnancy test and she wanted to wait for me to get home. We weren't sure about the test we used because we got it nearly two years ago. We saw two faint lines on it, which would mean Emily would be pregnant with baby #2. To be sure, we grabbed another test we had, but this one didn't come up with anything. That meant a quick trip to the store. Sure enough, came back "Pregnant" on the screen.
For the last forever Emily has been on an extremely strict diet, because before we could try getting pregnant she had to be off her MS medication for three months. So, a strict diet was the alternative until getting pregnant. This meant no Indian food. So, Emily said the day we find out we're pregnant, we're going to the Indian restaurant in Seattle that we like.
This was Hadley's first taste of Indian food, and while she liked the naan, she didn't handle the spice from my tikka masala very well. She loves the kheer (Indian rice pudding).
When telling Hadley she'll be a big sister, she wasn't amused.
11 AUGUST - 5 WEEKS
With Hadley, Emily took a progress picture every 5 weeks. So, at week 5, we start with this one.
Before you know the gender, it's hard to know how to address the baby. I say "he or she" and Emily says "they", which can be misleading. Since we have a name picked out whether it's a boy or a girl, the name will start with a C. So, Emily decided we can call it "Baby C".
10 SEPTEMBER - 9 WEEKS
Today was Emily's first appointment with the midwives. They had her do some tests and answer some questions. We were there just a little over a year ago when Emily was pregnant with Hadley. Doesn't feel like that long ago.
We got excited when they busted out the ultrasound machine, something they didn't have last time. We got to see our little baby C, and if you look closely, you'll be able to make out a sprouting leg and arm. Baby C was moving quite a bit. Can't imagine two kids with Hadley's energy.
Even though Emily is dealing with a lot of nausea, stomach pains, and headaches, we are anxious for this little one.
15 SEPTEMBER - 10 WEEKS
We are so close to getting out of the first trimester. Emily has done great, minus the nausea, stomach pains, vomiting, discomfort while sleeping, and fighting off unhealthy cravings.
1 OCTOBER - 12 WEEKS
Today we went and had some genetic testing done to determine the gender but also to make sure the baby is doing well. We'll have to wait another week for those results. As part of it they did do an ultrasound, so we got a chance to see our little Baby C.
Baby C is measuring right where she/he is supposed to be, and there isn't any swelling in the spinal chord, so everything looks like it should.
It's pretty cool to be able to see the type of detail you can at 12 weeks.
7 OCTOBER - 13 WEEKS
Tonight we got the phone call with the results from the Cell-Free DNA test from last week. Everything came back good, so that was reassuring. We were also told that we are going to have another little girl. We are extremely excited. This is what Emily was hoping for so that Hadley would have another girl to play with.
So far this pregnancy hasn't been any easier on Emily than the first, and based on an online search to tell if you are having a boy or girl, she had all the symptoms of a girl. So with all that, we kind of already had an idea that we were having a girl.
Emily starts the 2nd trimester this Sunday, which is when things are supposed to get a little better, so hopefully that's the case this time.

So excited for you guys!!!
