Easter

Easter kicked off with some egg decorating, of course. This year, instead of the traditional dye, Emily used shaving cream and food coloring, creating sort of a tie-dye style of finish.

 

 

The girls really enjoyed how cool their eggs came out.

 

 

Saturday afternoon, the girls set out in search of the hidden Easter eggs laying in plain sight throughout the backyard.

 

 

 

 

 

They looked high and low in order to fill their baskets with the elusive candy-filled eggs. Also, some hard boiled ones to keep them honest.

Legend has it, that if you plant jelly beans or skittles the night before Easter, the next morning they grow into suckers.

After their sucker harvest, the girls searched for their baskets. They each received a book and an outfit to go along with their abundance of candy.

Before we headed off to church, we made sure to get a good family photo.

We were able to get some good ones, after only about five tries. Bribing the girls with their Easter candy helped. 

 

 

 Hadley has started getting to the point where she surprises us with certain things that she learns and remembers. Last time the missionaries were over they asked if she knew who Nephi was, and she said, "yeah, he's from the book." Referring to The Book of Mormon Stories picture book we read to the girls at bedtime. When I was in Utah for Grandpa's funeral, Emily was at home putting the girls to bed by herself. Hadley made sure to remind her they needed to read the scriptures. If Cambri sees a picture of a temple she will point and shout, "temple!"

Since they are starting to pick up on more stuff, we made sure to teach them about Jesus, the Atonement, and resurrection. Even though they don't always seem to be paying attention, I sure hope these little lessons are things they will retain. So far I feel like they are, which of course makes us feel good as parents.
