Five-day Weekend

The second weekend in November was parent-teacher conferences at the girls' schools, so they didn't have school on Thursday and Friday. With Monday being Veteran's Day, they didn't have school then, either. So, that meant they had a five-day weekend. It turned out to be the perfect week for me to take more paternity leave and head over to Manson to visit family.

We drove over Thursday morning and Crewe enjoyed meeting his cousin Sophia. They enjoyed poking at each other. We're not sure how it happened, but when we got there, Crewe's eye started swelling up. 

Friday morning was even worse.

Before our trip, Cambri asked me if Gma would make cinnamon rolls with her. I told her I was certain she would love to do that. They turned out delicious.

Poor kid looked like he got in a fight.

The girls really enjoyed Rissa's little farm. Cambri asked each day if they could go do the animal chores.

Her favorite part was collecting the eggs.

They also loved the little goats.

Cambri also found a cat that she could tote around and wouldn't react.

Harlow and Luca enjoyed showing each other their dance moves on the trailer.

The Mickey-O-Lantern was inflated, and the kids couldn't get enough of it. They would stand it up and then run away before it could fall on them. I lost count how many times they did that.

The girls saw Gma's puzzle out, and wanted to do one. So they had Gma grab some for kids out of the closet, and the kids worked together to complete them. Cambri, especially, enjoyed completing puzzle after puzzle.

Meanwhile, these two had a blast pushing and poking each other.

It took a little while, but his eye started looking much better.

The bongos and maracas were brought out of the sewing room and the kids began making "music."

On Saturday morning, the girls and I headed down to Jack's for some donuts, and got to enjoy a pretty cool sunrise while we were at it. The girls also got a kick out of the many deer hanging around the orchard and driveway.

Cambri enlisted Gpa's help with one of her puzzles.

Hadley didn't like what was for dinner on Friday night, so Gma asked her what she would want on Saturday, and Hadley told her buttered noodles and grapes. So, for dinner on Saturday, we had buttered noodles and grapes. Gpa also made some chili.

Gma couldn't hold one without the other getting jealous.

After church on Sunday, we headed over to Rissa and Javi's new house to hangout. The kids enjoyed the playroom, while Luca showed Emily and Crewe his magnetic tiles.

The kids randomly asked for some scrambled eggs, and they just kept eating. By the time they were done, Rissa had cooked up a dozen eggs for them.

It was a good weekend. The girls had an absolute blast with their cousins.

We headed for home on Monday morning, and had no issues getting over the pass, which was supposed to get some snow soon.

We enjoyed a nice relaxing Monday, apart form the girls being absolutely wild at the grocery store.

Anyway, Crewe enjoyed a nice bath that night.

Gma overheard Cambri telling me she wanted a Pokémon puzzle, so she had a few delivered the next day. When they arrived, Hadley and Cambri wanted to complete them all, and they did. Hadley took my phone to take a picture of her completed puzzle.

It was a great five-day weekend, and the girls enjoyed heading back to school on Tuesday. Fortunately for me, I still had a week left of my paternity leave.
