Our little Crewe dude turned one! It's always fun to watch a little one grow and learn so much in their first year. Crewe has been an overall chill baby, which I hope continues so as to balance the chaos created by the girls. Wishful thinking, I know. It probably won't be too long before he joins in and adds to the chaos.
He doesn't fall asleep in random places like Harlow used to, but every now and then he just can't help it, even if he's standing.
Meemaw came up from Utah, and Gma and Gpa drove over from Manson to celebrate with us.
After some burgers and hot dogs for dinner, it was time to open the presents. The idea was for the girls to help him unwrap the presents, but it quickly turned into him watching as they tore open all of his stuff at once.
He got some pretty cool toys that the girls couldn't wait to play with, so they had to be reminded time and time again that Crewe gets to play with them first.
Then it was time for some wacky cake with extra glossy frosting. With a giant piece in front of him, we lit the candle and sang him "happy birthday."
It took him a second to figure out how he wanted to attack it, but he eventually got going on it.
He tried picking it up a couple of times, but decided against it. He seemed to be mostly in it for the frosting.
We also put a scoop of ice cream on there for him.
A first birthday wouldn't be complete without Emily holding up the cake-plastered kid.
I then took him into the shower and hosed him off.
Afterwards he downed a bunch of milk. So now his belly was just protruding out so much and was rock hard at this point.
After getting the kids in their pajamas, we just hung out for a little bit.
Crewe is sometimes very particular about who he will let hold him, so Meemaw, Gma, and Gpa were all happy when he deemed them worthy.
We tried to take him outside for some birthday pictures, but that didn't work very well. Mostly because it was cold, so he started crying.
After calming down a little, we went into the backyard and Emily just held him instead.
He liked that much better.
Man, we're so blessed to have this little guy. His sisters help take care of him, but at the same time they also remind him of his place as little brother. Harlow loves to run by him and just push him over.
It's always interesting to look at these kids when they are this little, and imagine what they will become. I have a good feeling about all of them, and that also goes for our little Crewe boy.
Just in case you were wondering, Harlow does still fall asleep in some random places and positions.

Happy birthday Crewe!!
