Dwight and Andrea Come To Town

Dwight, Andrea, Ray, Conor, and Cam flew up to hangout for a few days. Wanting to make sure they were entertained, the girls came up with a whole list of activities. First thing on that list was to make sure baby Cam got plenty of attention.  Cambri, especially, made sure this occurred frequently.

But then she was handed some cheese.

"I can multi-task."

Everyone headed to Monroe where they have an indoor warehouse thing that has a few bounce houses and castles. The girls thoroughly enjoyed all of it.

They especially enjoyed the obstacle courses.

Ray and Cambri battled over some air hockey. I wasn't there, but I imagine it sounded like two little banshees throwing rocks at each other.

Hadley really enjoyed the giant slide. She likes climbing up stuff, and also sliding downs stuff. So it was a good combo.

Ray and Conor discovered our bookcase, so they made sure Dwight read every single book to them. Cambri made sure she was close so she could listen in, but mostly so she could be next to baby Cam.

The kids went for a walk to the little playground nearby. We still have to go to the one in the new development because they roped ours off because it was supposed to be replaced this fall.  Which, hasn't happened, and probably won't happen until spring, unfortunately.

Something Emily likes to do when family comes to visit is to take them down to the river. We usually go to Osprey Park and walk the short trail to the Sultan River. With all the rain we've been getting, that trail was sure to be super muddy and flooded, so we tried out Sportman's Park.

They got a little freaked out when the train rolled on by overhead, but it was actually pretty cool.

Cambri is teething again, so that's always fun. To help her sleep we gave her a little bit of melatonin.

And this is about when it kicked in, right after brushing teeth, but before family prayer.

Cam did start out in that little jungle gym thing, but soon Cambri and Conor took over. That's why you don't let the camel put its nose in your tent. He'll learn.

With Halloween approaching fast, we spent Sunday evening carving pumpkins. 

Cambri wanted to try sawing out some eyes and a nose.

Hadley also wanted in on some of that action, finishing off the mouth.

They turned out pretty good, I'd say. Now, the more difficult task of getting a picture of everyone with the pumpkins.

We eventually got a pretty good one, and I don't think I heard any parents swearing during any of it.

After setting up the pumpkins, the kids took to some wrestling. Hadley wanted to show that she could hold her own with her cousins. 

They also tried some roasted pumpkin seeds. Surprisingly, they ate quite a bit of them.

But then spilled the rest.

Most of the nights were spent battling it out on MarioKart. 

Monday morning, Emily and the girls took Dwight and Andrea's crew down to Snoqualmie Falls. Not pictured: Snoqualmie Falls, but instead a lovely photo of my girls.

Later that night, Dwight and I headed on down to Seattle to watch the Seahawks lose pathetically to the Saints. It was still a lot of fun. Dwight was a little confused why two dudes would take a selfie together, but I assured him it was okay.

I think Emily made it five minutes holding Cam this time before Cambri caught on. 

Tuesday afternoon was spent at Craven Farms just south of Snohomish. It was a pretty wet day, so we had most of it to ourselves. We got things started with some mini golf, which the girls didn't really play by the rules, but had fun, nonetheless. And since nobody else was there, it didn't matter how slow or out of order they played each hole.

The main reason Emily wanted to come to Craven Farms was for the apple slingshot.  With some targets set up, the girls wasted little time nailing each and every one of them. That was a lie. By the time we figured out how to accurately use the slingshot, we were just about out of apples.

They sure did enjoy it, though.

Craven Farms is the type of place that has random vehicles half-buried in the ground acting as climbing structures. Or so we thought, we really weren't sure, but the girls enjoyed climbing on them.

We headed on in to see the animals. There were some goats, pigs, and some chickens.

We finished off the day with some duck races (see the video below) and some homemade donuts from the gift shop.  All in all, despite the weather and muddy conditions of the grounds, it was a pretty fun time.

Dwight's crew left bright and early the next morning to fly back down to Utah. It was fun having them visit, and it was good to see the kids interacting well together. We hope they had a good time and felt the trip up was worth it.
