Monsters In The Dark

October brought a lot of children's Halloween music. Hadley and Cambri couldn't get enough of their CoComelon, Mickey Mouse, and whatever other Halloween-themed shows they could find.

Hadley's favorite show right now is True and the Rainbow Kingdom. Emily put together an exact replica of True's outfit so that Hadley could be her for Halloween. Blue hair and all.

 

 

On the show, True goes around with her sidekick, Bartleby, who happens to be a talking cat. Cambri graciously took on that role, and did so brilliantly.

 

On Saturday night they hit up the trunk-or-treat in the church parking lot. They scored quite a bit of candy, and weirdly a lot of Tootsie Rolls.

The next night, on Halloween, the neighborhood was crawling with all sorts of goblins, princesses, zombies, and football players. We left a bowl on our doorstep while we took the girls around from house to house.

But first we had to get in some good photos of them together.These pictures may look like they cooperated without a fuss, but let me tell you that is in fact false. They weren't too bad, though, just anxious to go get some candy.

 They got off to a slow start, mostly because they weren't quite sure yet what was supposed to happen. Once Cambri realized she was getting candy just for knocking on a door, she was quite the go-getter. She didn't even care about any of the scary decorations. Hadley, on the other hand, wasn't getting anywhere near the giant spiders or animatronic witches.

They had a lot of fun. Cambri did really well picking out the Reese's and Twix. 

The night got cold real quick, though, and the girls were starting to run out of fuel. But knowing free candy lay waiting at the next house, they pushed on (or were carried or pushed in the stroller).

When we got home, they both crashed almost immediately. Meanwhile, Emily and I assessed their haul and took advantage of the parent tax.
